BIBLE READATHON

Bible Readathon

We’re excited to invite you to our 16-hour Bible Readathon on Saturday 19th October 6am–10pm! You’ll take part in reading Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Acts and Psalms.

HOW TO SIGN UP
If you haven’t already done so, please follow this link WBC Bible Readathon sign-up to choose your 30-minute slot:

We’ll need some basic contact details and the names of anyone sharing your reading slot with you, if relevant.

Think creatively about sharing your reading slot – for example, ask friends in your homegroup or read as a family. You could even invite friends or relatives anywhere in the country (or in the world!) to join you or take their own slot.

Please bear in mind that this livestream will be broadcast publicly eg YouTube, our JustGiving page, so anyone taking part needs to be happy with this.

After you’ve signed up, you’ll receive an email confirmation. You can go back in and change/edit your slot afterwards if you need to eg add more readers.
There’s a printed sign-up sheet at church if you’d prefer to sign up by hand.

READ ONLINE OR AT CHURCH?

Online – we hope that many of you are happy to read your Bible online at home. Similar to Zooming in for a church service, all you will need is:
  • good internet

  • microphone/camera on your device

  • ideally Google Chrome
In the week before, we’ll email you a link to get into StreamYard (livestream platform). It’s straightforward, no need to set up an account. There'll be a chance to practise going online between 7-9pm Thursday 17 October, to check that you’re good to go.
At church – alternatively, you can sign up for a slot to come in to Wymondham Baptist Church between 10am-2pm on 19th October, using our technology set-up to read there if you prefer.

WHAT WILL I READ?
You will take over reading from wherever the last reader finished, so please be prepared to just rock up and read whatever is the next Bible passage! Feel free to read from any translation or version of the Bible you wish, and in any language!
If there’s a child or anyone who would like to read but couldn’t ‘sight read’ an unseen passage, they can simply bring along ANY part of the Bible that they are comfortable reading eg a favourite Bible story book or something practised beforehand.

WHY ARE WE DOING THIS?
1) Firstly it’s a great blessing to read God’s precious and powerful word out loud, and to hear it read. Our reading will be live streamed so anyone anywhere can take part – both as readers and listeners.
2) And secondly… as a fellowship we’re challenging ourselves to read these books of the Bible as a team fundraising effort.

SPONSORSHIP!
Please encourage as many friends and family members as possible to listen to the livestream Bible reading, and also to sponsor you by going to our JustGiving Page.

Planning your Visit

New to Church?

Welcome! Whether you've just moved to the area, or have lived here all your life,  been attending church for years or have never stepped foot in one, we hope our website helps you to find out everything you would like to know about WBC.

Key information about the church...

Where & when does the church meet?

Our Church meets every Sunday at 10:30am for our Sunday Service.   There is limited parking but there is plenty of local free parking on Sundays
We meet at:
Wymondham Baptist
Queen Street
Wymondham
Norfolk NR18 0AY

You can see a map on our contact us page

What should I expect when I visit the church?

You will receive a very warm greeting from us, our dedicated welcome team will be able to answer your questions and direct you to where you need to go. A member of the Leadership Team is also on hand to help with any queries.  There will be approximately 45 mins of singing with opportunity for church members to pray or read a passage from the Bible. There will be teaching from one of the leaders at the Church with a chance to respond at the end of the service.

Tea, coffee and biscuits are served after the service when there is plenty of time to meet new people and ask more questions.  During the period of our building project we will not have access to our kitchen, so will be unable to offer refreshments as usual, however, please spend time after the service to share in fellowship together.

What happens to the children at church?

We have  fantastic programmes for the youth at WBC, for:

Creche (3 months - pre-school). Children under 3 months are welcome but must be accompanied by their parent/carer at all times.
Ignite (reception - year 6)
T4:12 ( Year 7 - year 11)

Children stay with their parents at the start of the service as we worship (sing songs!) together for the first part of the morning. Someone will announce when the children need to go to their programme. At the end of the service the group leaders will ensure you have your children.

For more information about what happens in the children's work please visit the relevant age groups for you under church life.

Is there a dress code?

No! Please just be yourself and come dressed in your 'normal' clothes.

Will I have to join in?

Not at all! You are free to simply observe or participate as much as feels comfortable for you.
