Seasons
Sometimes it is good to stop and reflect, instead of just carrying on as normal! When you take time out to reflect it is not a passive time of just resting, but an active time of assessing and working out where, when, how, even why, things are as they are in your life.
I would say, as Christians, it is imperative that we have times of reflection and sitting alone with God, even asking questions. Nowadays it does seem difficult to just be still, particularly when there seems to be so much going on. Is it me, or do you also sometimes think the world is in such a rush to get itself from one turmoil to another?!
Why I am writing this, is because the word ‘seasons’ came into my mind the other day and it caused me to stop and reflect on the seasons. Ecclesiastes 3:1 says, “There is a time for everything and a season for every activity under the heavens”. Seasons are part of God’s grand design for this earth: Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter. But they are also part of God’s grand design for you and me: joy and sadness, struggle and peace, highs and lows, birth and loss.
Even in our walk of faith there are seasons, times when maybe you’re feeling in a spiritually dry season and in a rut. It could be you’re in a waiting season, Psalm 37:7 says, “Be still in the presence of the Lord and wait patiently for Him to act”. There are seasons where things are so busy you feel you don’t have time to sort out all your projects. Don’t chase your tail, instead chase after what God wants; the world belongs to Him. There are seasons when times are hard and tough and you need comfort; you may feel you need strength beyond yourself, then let Him comfort you. (Read 2 Corinthians 4:17-18). There is, of course, a happy season when things are going well and as James 5:13 puts it, “Is anyone happy? Let them sing songs of praise”.
Could it be that in your church life there is an end of a season of service you have given and, although it could feel like the end, on reflection it may well be the beginning of a new and exciting season that God is calling you to! So take time and reflect on your walk of faith.
