Game of Life

Picture for Game of Life

We have just both collapsed after having various of our grandchildren for ten days either to stay or occupy.  I has been huge fun, although exhausting!!  We have taken them out for days, played games and done things with them in the hope that we could keep them entertained.  Sometimes it worked other times it didn’t, suffice it to say we have a renewed admiration for their parents who care for them and entertain them all the time.  We have played Crazy Golf, Scrabble, Cluedo, had to do the compulsory visit to the arcades and climbed castle walls.  Most times we have watched them run rings around us and beat us soundly at games and activities.  Most of what we did was fun and was based on a level of skill but in the vast majority of times, was purely a chance of good or bad fortune.
Jeremiah 29 verse 11 reads ‘For I know the plans I have for you declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you new hope and a future.’
Taken literally this is such a reassuring verse, but our life is not a game of chance or good fortune.  Nothing in the past, present or future is a matter of coincidence, circumstances or good fortune.  We need to remind ourselves, no matter if we are losing or winning, overwhelmed, confused or anxious our Father has an individual game plan for our lives – a plan to prosper not to harm and to give us hope and a future. So wherever you are today, and whatever you are carrying these promises are individually for you.
