Clearing out tools for fresh start in life

A local church is calling for residents to clear out their disused tools to help people in the third world to earn a living of their own.
On Saturday 29 March Wymondham Baptist Church on Queen Street will be collecting unwanted tools to help people in developing countries become self-sufficient with a regular income.
Working along with the charity Tools With A Mission, the church is accepting most types of tools which could be refurbished to a high standard. Gardening, carpentry, mechanical, and sewing tools are all welcome, as is stationery for schoolchildren.
This is the fourth collection the church has held for TWAM. In each of the previous years they have collected more than a tonne of tools.
‘If we at WBC can turn our Norfolk spring cleaning into a fresh start for someone far away, then it’s something we’ll do again and again,’ commented Paul Smith, the church’s minister.
They are interested in collecting tools such as carpentry, motor mechanics, building, electrical and plumbing, engineering, electric power tools, sewing machines, laptops, flat screen computers, sewing and craft items, garden tools, educational text books, adult mountain bikes, manual typewriters, and chainsaws. They will not be able to accept electric hedge cutters, lawnmowers or gas cylinders. More information is available on www.twam.co.uk.
If you have any tools that you would like to donate then please bring them to Wymondham Baptist Church in Queen Street on Saturday 29 March from 10am-4pm.
For more information please contact Christine Spencer on 01953 606520.

Time

There are times in our lives when things don’t go according to plan. Various factors come into play, events come up, emergencies happen and even the wrong or lack of information comes into play. Today is a prime example. I found myself being somewhere a lot earlier than I needed to be simply because someone had failed to communicate the right information. I, at first felt very frustrated and annoyed, because my time could be better spent doing something important. Something useful. Instead I found myself with time to kill, so to speak. And after a while I realised that that time was spent praying and giving over to Jesus my feelings of frustrations and annoyance. And it turned out to be a great time of just being in his presence. I sat in the church and just basked in his love. Certainly not wasted time.
Sometimes God gives us wonderful opportunity to just spend time with him.

Four Challenges for a New Year

Four Challenges for a New Year
On the first Sunday in this new year, Paul gave us these 4 challenges. Do listen ( or listen again) to his sermon – use the link above – Services, Recorded Church Sermons.

Commit yourself to forget your failures
…forgetting what is behind and straining towards what is ahead, I press on towards the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenwards in Christ Jesus. Philippians 3:14-15 (NIV)

Commit yourself to give up your grudges
Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. Colossians 3:13-14 (NIV)

Commit yourself to restore your relationships
If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone. Romans 12:18 (NIV)

Commit yourself to turn your back on your transgressions
Do not let sin control the way you live Romans 6:12 (NLT)
