We are delighted and humbled to announce that God has called Rev Alan Davies, accompanied with his wife Janice, to be our full-time Minister. At a Special Church Meeting in November 2009 the Membership and wider congregation voted 100% to call Alan, who will start with immediate affect. Alan will be moving to Wymondham in the second week of December 2009, and we look forward to welcoming Alan and Janice into our church family and wider community. A formal induction will take place early in 2010. Contact details for Alan can be found here: http://www.wymondhambaptist.org/about/church-leadership-team.html
It has been a challenging time over the last two years, and I do not believe I would be wrong to say at times, painful. Many have doubted over this period what God was doing and even where He was. Yet slowly and with tremendous patience His Holy Spirit has shaped and moulded us into a tight-knit family of believers. Through adversity we have learnt to trust Him and importantly, each other.
In the last few months as a congregation, under-pinned with a dedicated series of prayer meetings seeking God, a new sense of purpose, belonging and a deeper dependence on God has been revealed. The Holy Spirit has moved us and drawn us out, and most importantly many have witnessed to a new sense of God’s love and acceptance shown amongst us, and also directly in a word from God.
Then amongst all of this God has given us the blessing of a new minister, a shepherd for his flock. Undeserved, unmerited and unexpected (based on our financial circumstances!). A true act of grace and love from a loving heavenly Father.
Are we the perfect church? Far from it! We have made mistakes and unintentionally hurt people as a result of these. But, we have always tried to acknowledge these and ask for God’s forgiveness. But, I believe we have learnt some very important and hard lessons. We have learnt to trust God. We have learnt to rely on God. We have learnt that no matter what you might be thinking or feeling inside, sometimes you just have to continue all the same. That when all you feel you can do is put the next foot in front of the other, not knowing where God is taking you, that He really does know and He will catch your foot-fall.
I would love to write I am so proud of Wymondham Baptist Church, but pride is a sin! Therefore I will will write God I am proud of you! I will also write that is has been, and still is, a massive privilege to be a small part of a group of believers who love and cry as a family and profess that Jesus is their Lord!
If you would like to be part of a family of believers, a group whose expression of Christ is about being real with Him and themselves, a group who recognise they are on a journey of faith together, then we would love to have you on the journey with us. But make no mistake, we are not perfect. But thank God, Jesus is!
John 13: 34-35 “Let me give you a new command: Love one another. In the same way I loved you, you love one another. This is how everyone will recognize that you are my disciples—when they see the love you have for each other.”
