Treasurers Report Jan-Mar 2008
Well, it’s about time I reported on the Income and Expenditure for our first quarter back at Queen Street and as it’s my “maiden” quarter may I just extend a huge thank you to Sue Walther for a smooth and painless transfer of documents, signatories and expertise.
OK, on to the figures…
In the first three months to 31st March, total income to the church was £11,999. A big thank you to all who contributed financially to the church as a statement of faith, love and hope for the future of WBC, which is firmly in His hands.
We had significant “one off” expenses in the first three months relating to our outgoing commitments with HCC meaning that overall, we suffered a deficit of £3809 for the three months.
Those expenses include ministerial costs of £7612, which include paying John and Doreen Davis until the end of March as a gesture of goodwill and thanks for their pastoral work in the time they were with us and a full month’s salary (January) for our outgoing youth worker Andy Jones. A further £1135 was expended on the rental of the High School premises. These two costs will not recur.
Also included were insurance costs for Queen Street and the manse of around £2100. This is an annual cost so will not recur until March 09.
It must also be noted that payment into our tithe fund of 15% of our total income is continuing. This money is set aside for good causes and the cost of this amounted to £1800 for the quarter, culminating in an undistributed balance of £4122 for charity giving and Baptist Union obligations.
Overall, I am very encouraged by how quickly things have settled down financially, and although we suffered a deficit for the three months, the next quarter should provide a different story, recovering that shortfall and providing more funds for the exciting year of continued consolidation and growth we have ahead!
