Group Name Update & Logo Competition
March 16th, 2008 by Helen
The young people have decided to call Junior church “EXPLODE”. The creche will be known as ‘Sparklers’, the 7-12 group as ‘Dynamite’ and the 12+ group (when it is established) as ‘Nitro’. However the 3-7 group were undecided about their name. They would like something to do with Fireworks but would appreciate some suggestions along these lines. We have also started a competition to design the logo for each group so any ideas or entries need to be bought to Explode over the next few weeks. Competition open to all ages.

Thanks for the ideas so far - am really liking them so will be able to offer more ideas to the children on SUnday.
Am also loving some of the initial logos James. thanks.
Beth and Nathan both came up with a logo for Dynamite on Sunday and they choose the colours red and yellow for both their designs.
Thanks for suggestions so far - keep them coming.

I love the Dynamite, Sparklers and a couple of the variants of the Explode logo. Not so sure about Nitro.
I was thinking more along the lines of a wooden box (like a TNT box you get in the old Road Runner cartoons) with NITRO stamped on the side.
Nice one James. These are great!

I think I always think green with Nitro because of the green boxes of nitro in the Crash Bandicoot games.
Are we going to give various ideas to the groups to decide themselves like with the names?
We did this with the escpade logo as we were split about which one we wanted and the friday crewers picked a different one altogether.

It would be a good idea to pick, say two or three of each logo and let the children decide which one they like best.
I’m liking the Nitro ones James. Hmm. Ahh, Crash Bandicoot! that’s where I’d seen the boxes before! Used to be a massive fan back in the days of PS1…

How about Ka-Boom as name suggestion? I’m struggling to come up with much else on this theme

We should draw up a shortlist. My favourites are…
Ka-Boom!
Little Rockets
Whoosh!

Loving Whoosh! Rockets .. yes, not too keen on the ‘little’ tag though . Be interesting to see which the kids choose - probably the one we least expect
James - my word, you HAVE been busy - I’m in awe!!!!

On the fireworks theme….I know they’ve been banned, but I loved Jumping Jacks, when I was a kid!!(It was a type of firework, for those who may not know!!) How the girls in that group would respond to that, when they really want ‘princess’ I can only imagine!! It does reflect their liveliness though!!
Perhaps they would appreciate ‘Jumpin Jackess’ instead!! (Uh-oh, that could be confused with ‘Jackass’!!!)
Golden Rain
Golden Fountain
Traffic Lights (or RAG for red/amber/green)

I really like whoosh, but I feel it would be more appropriate to spell it as……….Whoa….ssshhhh!! (from a realistic teacher’s point of view!!):-)

I’ve put some ideas together for jumping jacks but it’s quite hard as I couldn’t really find what they looked like; just kept getting images of star jumps. i’ve also reworked some of the ka-boom ideas for explode.
