Yummy - a blog. Or is it a forum? What’s the difference?

A good question…best answered by Wikipedia: ‘A blog (a portmanteau of web log) is a website where entries are commonly displayed in reverse chronological order. “Blog” can also be used as a verb, meaning to maintain or add content to a blog.

Many blogs provide commentary or news on a particular subject; others function as more personal online diaries. A typical blog combines text, images, and links to other blogs, web pages, and other media related to its topic. The ability for readers to leave comments in an interactive format is an important part of many blogs.’

A ‘Forum‘, or ‘Internet Forum’ as I assume you are referring to is:’An Internet forum is a web application for holding discussions and posting user generated content. Internet forums are also commonly referred to as Web forums, message boards, discussion boards, (electronic) discussion groups, discussion forums, bulletin boards, fora (the Latin plural) or simply forums. The terms “forum” and “board” may refer to the entire community or to a specific sub-forum dealing with a distinct topic. Messages within these sub-forums are then displayed either in chronological order or as threaded discussions.’

As you can see, there is an overlap between a blog and forum, but in the case of WBC I see that as way of people sharing information quickly and easily with the potential for comments to be made, asked.

    Hope this helps, Nigel

But wahey have just started a new thread - not bad for someone who has never ‘blogged’ before (is it 1 g or 2???). Anyway, excellent job done by Nigel and Mark. Well done. A+ (Oh no, sorry, forgot where I was - have got so much course work to mark at the moment slipped in to marking mode!! lol)
