ANSWERS
What is a 'Baptist'?
Baptist is the label given to one of many
branches of the Christian Church (others include Church of England/Anglican,
Roman Catholic, Methodist, United Reformed, Presbyterian, Pentecostal,
Free Church). We have the same fundamental beliefs but we do things
slightly differently!

Do I have to be a Baptist to visit a Baptist church?
NO! All are welcome to join us, whatever race, colour,
belief, size, shape or ability. You'll find a warm welcome from a group
of ordinary people getting to know an extraordinary God.

What happens in a Baptist church service?
All kinds of things! Our style is quite relaxed so there
may be singing, prayers, discussion, a reading, a talk and things for
children or maybe a communion (bread and wine). Our purpose is to worship
God and grow into a deeper relationship with Him and with one another.

Are all Baptist churches the same?
Not necessarily - we believe all members should be valued
and have a say in how things are run. Each church elects a leadership
team and all big decisions are made in church meetings. This is great
because it means we can respond to our local circumstances wherever
we are.

Are Baptist churches independent?
Technically yes, but many churches choose to be part of
a much bigger picture by belonging to cluster groups (with a few other
churches in the general locality), regional associations (we belong
to EBA the Eastern Baptist Association (EBA)) and the Baptist Union
of Great Britain. There is also the option to belong to other, non-denominational
groups, for example, Wymondham Baptist Church is also a member of the
Evangelical Alliance (EA).

What is The Baptist Union of Great Britain (BUGB)?
The BUGB is a national link, bringing together churches
from all the regions and linking with other denominations. We believe
many churches working together can make a bigger impact. BUGB provides
support, training and resources which many small churches would not
be able to access otherwise. Large events are a great opportunity for
us to meet as part of the 'Baptist family'.

What is the Eastern Baptist Association (EBA)?
The Eastern Baptist Association is a way of Baptist Churches
linking together to share resources, training, teaching, prayer, celebrations,
encouragement, practical help and care. We have a team of Regional Ministers
who oversee the churches, supporting local ministers and congregations.
